Description

This Kodak Recomar Model 33 was made by Kodak AG in Stuttgart, Germany from 1932-40. It is a long-extension precision view camera. Originally the same model had been the Nagel No.33, made from 1928 until 1932, when Kodak acquired the Nagel camera works. The camera opens easily by pushing a raised area on the top of the camera. The lens pulls out and then the wheel on the side of the metal lens board winds the lens out to a double extension bellows. When fully extended, the lens is 10 inches from the back of the camera and the metal bed sticks out another 2 inches. This camera has something I have never seen before. When you extend the bellows, there is a silver latch on each side of the bellows that you have to undo to allow the bellows to extend. See pic 6 and 7. In the flashlight in a dark room test, the bellows appear to be light tight. The lens is an Anastigmat 1:4.5 f 13.5 cm. It looks to be in good condition without scratches or fungus. The lens can be moved up and down and right and left. The Ibsor leaf shutter goes from 1 to 1/100 of a second plus T and B. The sound of the shutter clicking gets faster as the settings are changed but I have no way of knowing if they are correct. The aperture opens and closes nicely. It goes from f 3.5 -22. You have to be sure to turn the shutter speed dial counter clockwise or the shutter will not work. The back opens to reveal a 6 x 9 cm (3 ¼ to 4 ¼) piece of glass which is in good condition. The back of the camera is easily removed. The handle is in very good condition and has 33 stamped in it. There are two tripod screw receptacles, a level and a The leather/leatherette covering is in good condition with some wear on the bottom of the camera and the edges. This is an absolutely beautiful camera. I cannot test it so it is being sold as a display piece and not a working camera. Please check out the other cameras I have posted on my site.
